Points to Remember
  • Keep shoulder, neck, and throat muscles loose and relaxed
  • Keep throat open
  • No hissing
  • Fill bottom of lungs first then fill to top – “belly breathing”
  • If you can say your name after exhaling, you still have air in your lungs
Slow Breathing
  • Inhale for 10,
  • hold for 5,
  • exhale for 10
  • 5 repetitions
Fast Breathing
  • Inhale for 1,
  • exhale for 1
  • 10 repetitions
Rag Doll
  • Exhale as you bend over,
  • inhale as you come up
  • 10 repetitions
Leg Raises
  • Slowly raise heels 6 inches off the floor while exhaling
  • Slowly lower heels to floor (no thud) while inhaling
  • Up to 30 repetitions
Sit Ups
  • Hands across chest
  • Knees bent up
  • Up-exhale;
  • down inhale
  • Up to 50 repetitions
Breathing through Horns
  • Valves halfway down for resistance
  • Lips around mouthpiece
  • Do not inhale through horn
  • Inhale 2; Exhale 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12
  • Inhale 1; Exhale 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12
