Keep shoulder, neck, and throat muscles loose and relaxed
Keep throat open
No hissing
Fill bottom of lungs first then fill to top – “belly breathing”
If you can say your name after exhaling, you still have air in your lungs
Slow Breathing
Inhale for 10,
hold for 5,
exhale for 10
5 repetitions
Fast Breathing
Inhale for 1,
exhale for 1
10 repetitions
Rag Doll
Exhale as you bend over,
inhale as you come up
10 repetitions
Leg Raises
Slowly raise heels 6 inches off the floor while exhaling
Slowly lower heels to floor (no thud) while inhaling
Up to 30 repetitions
Sit Ups
Hands across chest
Knees bent up
Up-exhale;
down inhale
Up to 50 repetitions
Breathing through Horns
Valves halfway down for resistance
Lips around mouthpiece
Do not inhale through horn
